Default Question

I'm a young guy, early twenties, thinning in a NW6 pattern. I'm on finasteride right now.

Eventually of course I expect to lose a decent amount, but is it a good idea for me to keep taking finasteride in order to preserve as much hair as possible, perhaps with a view towards saving donor hair for a future HT?

That's really your only option. If you stop taking finasteride now, you'll lose more hair, which means less hair available to transplant.

KO1,

I agree with Mark. Propecia (finasteride) is good at slowing down, stopping and even reversing some of the effects of male pattern baldness. Thus, if you're hair is only just starting to thin, it might prevent or at least slow down your hair loss. You may also want to consider adding Rogaine (minoxidil) to your regimen.

You can then re-evaluate the possibillity of and whether you still even want to consider hair transplant surgery in several years.

Best wishes,
