Hi everyone!
Firstly i don't want people to post negative comments saying "use this, dont use that" because as most guys know, we do enough of that on our own!!
Anyway i'm 20 and recently started to notice some thinning of my hair. At first like many guys i went throught the whole being mad, being down, in denial etc. but i quickly came round to the fact and have faced up to it.
I've been using Minoxidil for 1 1/2 months and the HairMax Laser Comb for the same amount of time. Started taking Propecia too just under a month ago and last week decided to use some savings (luckily i did save!) to go to Advanced Hair Studio for a six month program there.
I'm posting on here because since i've started opening up and coming to terms with losing hair, i've felt much better about myself and hope that other guys can feel the same way!
I will post some before pics on here soon and will update on my progress.

Hey...welcome
I'm your age (turned 20 last month) and noticed thinning about a year ago. I'm on minoxidil and propecia myself, and will see what that'll do for me in the years to come. I'm expecting dissapointment though, as that's what I usually get in life.

Hi Richard!
I'd be interested to hear how your 6 month program with Advanced Hair Studio goes. What is involved with their treatment?

The Advanced Hair Studio treatment is split into a 50 minute laser session every week for the first month then a 25 minute session from month 2 onwards. Means i get 30 25 minute sessions of the laser therapy. They also include all the minoxidil for the six months as well as the usual various shampoos, serums etc. They also include some DHT blocking tablets too.
I have to admit i was slightly unsure about AHS because i have read some pretty bad things about them, although most of that was about their sales technique being the VERY hard sell. And it was! However, it does work for a lot of men!
I also got in contact with "White Cliffs Hair Studio" who i must say are a much better company when I dealt with them. Unfortunatly they couldnt offer the laser therapy in a near enough studio for me to travel to. The guy I spoke to on the phone though (and remember he knew by this point he wasn't going to get a sale!) said that the laser works for 80-90% of guys.

Do you know what the DHT blocking tablets are? Those are probably going to be what help you the most.
I'd be extremely wary of the laser treatments. We had a laser machine in our office for a few years that was offered to patients if they were interested in trying it and we never saw anything come of it. It was a nice machine too, the kind that looks like one of those hair dryers that they have in salons, (you know, the chair with the dome that goes over your head). It was a nice machine but it didn't really do anything to grow hair.
I've asked a few people on this forum and others who sell laser machines and I just don't understand how it's supposed to work. All I've been able to find is that it "stimulates" the scalp and hair follicles, which is extremely vague.
But the most offensive thing that I see when people push those laser devices is that they almost always tell the prospective buyer about how it's "FDA approved" for hair loss treatment, which is a very devious (and frankly evil IMO) sales pitch. It's not approved by the FDA to grow hair, the way that drugs like Finasteride and Minoxidil are. All the FDA has said is that it's not going to harm you. Which makes sense. If you point a laser pointer at your skin, it's not going to hurt you.
If you've got the money to experiment with laser treatments and just want to try it out for yourself, that's your right and I wish you the best of luck. But really be sure to take a lot of photos and try and really evaluate whether the treatment is working. I'd also ask them how they're able to tell whether any potential hair growth you experience is due to any specific treatment. If you're taking DHT blocking pills, sitting under lasers, using fancy shampoos, and all the rest of that stuff, you're really not able to tell which is helping or hurting your hair growth chances.
Sorry for the long rant, but I've seen a lot of the sales techniques you speak of and the way some of these people manipulated patients into using questionable (and I'm being very kind with that adjective) methods to grow hair that border on quackery.
Whatever you choose, I wish you the best and I hope you keep us informed on your progress. Your experience can be a big help to the other posters here.

Yeh i understand that it might not be the laser that does it, it might be the propecia or the DHT blockers or whatever. But my view was that this way i've covered every angle.
To me the laser theory does seem to be a plausable one because stimulation of the follicles technically SHOULD work i.e. biology would say light stimulation makes things grow! Im not expecting an afro in 6 months time mind!
And to be honest, as long as there's an improvement, i'll be happy
