View Full Version : Stupid Habit

Hello,
I have a habit of playing with the fringe of my hair a lot. I've been doing this for about 2 years now. There's one particular spot which I played with a lot and resulted in strings of hair falling out. About 2 or 3 strings every few days.

Now I'm trying to stop the habit but I've noticed that I basically have a small bald spot as a result of picking out these individual hairs. The spot has become extremely obvious and I'm curious as to whether or not the hair will actually grow back.

I'm 16 years old and I regret not listening to my parents about this. My parents say that if I stop playing with my hair it will grow back but I need reassurance and they've also mentioned that there's no hair growth there at the moment.
I saw the dermatologist and he recommended I use a hair scalp revitaliser to help it grow back.
What's the verdict? There's an image attached below.

I'll say this now. Don't listen to what your parents tell you, unless they know squat about hair loss.

And then if you can, look at your dad, or your mom's brothers if she has any, or her dad. Notice any balding on them? If so, you have something to go by.

Hair loss will never be caused by fiddling with a part of your scalp.

If you are actually picking those hairs out (are you fiddling or pulling? You said both of these in your post...) then obviously the hair is out of your scalp and they will grow back. If they don't, most likely there's a relative of your's that lost hair the same way.

That's genetics and life for you. I wouldn't worry that much myself. It's a very small bit of hair that you can cover up.

Sorry for not being very clear, I am quite literally pulling each hair out of my scalp. Thanks for the reply by the way.

Well...just wait it out. I used to pluck my underarm hair and it took about 2-3 weeks for me to notice they were growing back in, so give yourself maximum of a month. If you don't see any improvement, then something's totally wierd.
