Hi,

Hope you can help.

I have been losing my hair for the last 2 years and have receded at both vertexes and have started developing a bald spot at the back which at the moment isn't very obvious unless you look closely but I have diffused very drastically all over the top of my head.

About 8 months ago I started taking Propecia for about 4 months, and I noticed fewer hairs falling out which was brilliant. But after the 2nd month I started to have some side effects in the form of weak erections and then eventually ED. I stopped taking it as I felt it depressed me further, and I became less social and less confident.

The side effects are slowly reversing which I am happy about.
I would still like to do something about my hairloss, but I don't think I can go back to taking Propecia as I feel it may mentally ruin me (the original problem of hairloss isn't doing me any good either).

Is Minoxidil a viable option for me and can you tell me why you normally go for the Propecia route first?

Thank you for any help you can give.

If you don't have a gf, or if you have a gf that doesn't care about the fact you're getting weak erections, then I don't see why you should get off the Propecia, but if it's really bothering you, then just stay on minoxidil if you want.

And the reason people use Propecia usually it's because it's an internal fighter. It attacks the root cause of pattern baldness you can say, DHT.

Minoxidil just tries to do the opposite of what DHT does. DHT miniaturizes, Min thickens.

I use a combo of both. ****ing mother genes.

That's not entirely accurate.

Basically, we don't fully understand how/why minoxidl works at the moment. (http://www.ishrs.org/articles/about-rogaine.htm) It was originally a blood-pressure medication, but they found it helped grow hair.

2young, it would be ideal if you would continue Finasteride, but if you feel you're experiencing unacceptable side-effects, Minoxidil is a good alternative.

I just meant it helps slow/stop hair loss.
