No thread on this? Blasphemy. I consider getting one every now and then, especially those more modern and realistic looking ones...and the ones from hair direct...they're like the ones you'd see some international celebrities wearing, you know like the fake hairline that looks as real as anything else.
I will probably get one if DHT fighters (fin/dut) and follicle revitalizers (min) fail me, but...you never know. Hair multiplication ftw. If this procedure actually works and is affordable, ha...say goodbye to baldness.

When Dr Rassman was writing his book, Hair Loss and Replacement For Dummies (http://www.amazon.com/Hair-Replacement-Dummies-Health-Fitness/dp/0470087870/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1233779941&sr=8-1), he had me go to a few different places that manufactured hair pieces and wigs to do some photography for the book, and I was totally fascinated how intricately they are put together. Literally each individual hair is tied into this mesh. Quite an intricate process!

Yeah monofilament ftw. They're more expensive than non-mono and when it's also real hair we're talking 400-500 dollar wigs...ouch.
What is kinda upsetting is when I do look for wigs online, results usually come up for women...
Hair replacements in general seem extremely rare compared to clothes/shoes/hats/and other accessories. Honestly I think they should be as popular as gloves at least. I think they should be in stores that sells things to be worn, because wigs are also worn. Because of how rare they are they are sold only in wig stores I think, and stores like that are rare here...I probably would have to drive 30 minutes to reach one.
I'm sure the reason replacements for men are more rare because we have a much bigger accepting population of men than women when it comes to hair loss, but I find it ridiculous that I ended up browsing female wigs because I found very few results when I looked up pieces for men, and it seems the latest technology is used on wigs for women. The male pieces look crappy and more obviously fake.
Now, I am saying these are female wigs because females were wearing them on the picture. If they are for either sex than great. Of course I was browsing short wigs, not long ones. Some of the short wigs look rather masculine, but in a metro-sexual way. Still better than looking bald. :)
HD (Hair Direct) makes replacements for men and women, and they have good return policies! They make it with molds so you can show fake hairline that looks incredibly real. So, I probably will not buy a "wig" and consider a hair replacement from HD.

Are these affordable? I'm considering buying a wig for my receding hairline. I am still in my 20's yet my hair looks like that of a 50's woman. Help!

It is better instead of getting wig, just get some good medication that is included in hair loss treatment will cause beneficial for you.
I must say that just go with some healthy diet that contains proteins and than consult a good doctor, and let me tell you these are very affordable, just try out once.
Thanks

Using hair extensions can also the lessen the shame you are feeling.
Wigs need a lot of TLC. They are good for what they can be used for, but it's not really just a toss-it-on-and-go sort of procedure.
I highly recommend picking up Dr R's book because he wrote a lot about this in there. I had to go to a bunch of wig makers in Beverly Hills to see how they did it. It's quite intensive.
If you get the book, it will give you all the info you need and more. Much more than I could try and post on this site.
