View Full Version : Is my hairline receding or did it simply mature?

Hey guys,

I've posted three pictures. One from when I was 17, two from last week when I had longer hair, and two from today after my haircut.

I have red/blonde hair, and it's coarse. It always grows very thick. My brother and Dad both have very receded hairlines, but other relatives and ones from my mom's side all have very different hair situations.

Maybe my haircut today is what scared me, but in the last two years my hairline changed dramatically but I'm not sure if it's just my hairline maturing or if I'm balding.

My hair stylist said that my hairline isn't changing or at least she hasn't noticed it change-- but maybe she's just being nice? It just seems like my hairline cuts into an extreme enough V that it isn't just a matured hairline... or is it?

Okay, here are the pics:

Looks like a mature hairline to me. Are there any other symptoms of MPB that you've noticed?

I'm still not clear on what the other symptoms are, exactly.

Should I take a picture close-up of the hair on my hairline itself? Because as far as I know my hair is as thick there as anywhere.

Link me to a list of things to look for and I'll check, and if it's helpful, I'll post a picture of my hairline up close for you to judge.

Thanks for your quick initial response... greatly appreciated.

Any other opinions?

....? Surely this is the forum to get such opinions. 128 people have viewed the thread. No more comments on what might be happening/ not happening to my hairline?

Is it normal to have thinner hair growth in front of the ears compared to the rest of your head?

Since my hairline matured, the hair is thinner before my ears, and a bit courser (or a tiny bit curlier).

Is this typical or does this signify a receding hairline?

Also is it normal to have some thinner, shorter, softer little hairs along the hairline? Like, in front of where my normal hair grows?

it's a mature hairline. it's not baldness or recession.

It is just a normal thing that we really shed some of our hair. But if you see that it is too much, like you can see a lot on your pillow, when you take shower or when you brush or comb your hair then you have hair loss. Better seek for solution before it gets worse.
