Okay, I'm just gonna run down the facts. I have OCD and I have a horrible fear of losing my hair. It's an on and off fear... dies down then it flares up again. I've posted on here before and my worries died down, but it's flared up again, and I've been checking my hair a lot. I also have seborrhoeic dermatitis and it makes my scalp pink, as opposed to white. My hair is also very fair.
Anyway, I've been using my laptop to take pics of my hair, and I've noticed like this 'strip' of hair that doesn't look as thick as the rest of my hair (you'll see what I mean), and my scalp stands out A LOT against the hair. I checked in the mirror and this 'strip' is non-existent in the mirror and my hair looks as thick as it always has. I decided to use a proper camera and take some pics, and it's made me even more confused. From the camera pics, this part am worrying about looks like a continuation of my crown? I dunno, but yeah. Here are the pics;
WEBCAM (these pics either had gel in, or I had just woken up):

And then... this is how my hair is naturally... no wax or anything. It sticks up on it's own naturally, and is very fluffy. This is how it's always been.

Sorry for posting all the pics, but am getting proper worried, and I don't know whether am worrying about nothing... as is the way with OCD :/.
Anyway, any responses would be greatly appreciated.
* I realise I've only just posted a topic, but I asked about my hair on another forum and someone suggested MBP, and it's honestly scared the crap out of my and I feel horrible.
Sorry for asking so much, I've just got such a horrible fear of losing my hair it's making me ill, and want to know if it's just my OCD making me worry irrationally, or whether there's something to be genuinely concerned about.
Thanks.

Definitely thinning quite a bit.
Looks like my hairline and crown (my only thread.)
I'm sure if you started something soon, you would be fine for years to come.

Hey buddy,
First of all, like you I too have OCD ESPECIALLY when it comes hair loss so I know how you're feeling man... Like you, mine flares up and dies down but as of now I want you to try to get your mind off it. I know it's easier said than done, but you need to try to stop worrying IRRATIONALLY about it for your own sanity. It happened to me man and it lead me into depression, fear, and a crap load of stress... So just try to stay calm and relax!
First of all, to me your hair looks as NORMAL as it can be from these pictures! The scalp showing in those pictures could very well just be from the lighting/angle of the camera and your scalp condition as you described.
As of now bud, my next question is have you noticed any hair shedding? If so how severe is it? Let me know so I can help you to my best ability.

Hey man, thanks for the reply.
Nope, I've not noticed any shedding at all. I've even asked family members and they've said my hair is exactly the same as it always has been.
I also also asked this question on another forum, and a 'doctor representative' replied saying, as you have said, that my hair is fine, and that what I'm concerned about is just a parting in my hair, since, when my hair is wet, it's the same density all over... just the parting is more noticeable when my hair is dry, and against my pink scalp.
I just get a bit confused about people's different answers... I get different answers from different people :/
OCD's a horrible thing, isn't it?

Hey bud,
Since you don't have any abnormal hair shedding as you say and your family members also say your hair has been the same, then it really is safe to say that your hair is fine! So yeah man, don't worry about it. Believe me, I worried WAY too much about it and it didn't do me any good. I was in such severe depression, stress, and anxiety that it temporarly took over my life. I remember driving to get my first car and I wasn't even excited since all that was on my mind was the hair... So yeah, don't let the OCD take control over you since it is a horrible thing lol.
But yeah, your hair is completely fine. And of course people are going to say different things, but if it still bothers you because of the OCD, you can always obtain an opinion/evalution from someone who is much more qualified than me: a dermatologist. Your peace of mind is worth the time lol. If there is anything else man, let me know.
Best wishes,
Allen.

Hey dude,
Just checked the forum... I've noticed you're taking over the place, replying to everyone haha. Good job.
Anyway... I was fine for like two days. Then I started frigging worrying again. Yeah.
I dunno why I put myself through this, but I compiled those good quality camera pics I posted with some new ones of my hair from yesterday. If you could have a check over these pics that would be awesome, and I'd really appreciate it.

I'm going to try and go the doctors next week about my scalp, because it looks so damn red on pictures... however, in a mirror you can't see my scalp at all... so I dunno which is best to go off.

it looks fine to me bud, but if your really worried you can get your doc to send you to a dermo and make sure it is a dermo who has delt with MPB before and they can offer you years of experience wether it be soothing your nerves that you dont have MPB or if you actually (and i doubt it i just think with your hair/skin colour it freaks u out) do then he/she can help you treat it if you want to.
but dont let it get to you, i still have my hair but every once in a while a go skin head and the ladies (and guys for that matter) dont notice and hence dont care about me being bald.
a good bit off fun can be shaving your head completely (i advise getting some one to do it for you) and then going out to a pub having a few pints and not giving a f$ck. It got me over my nerves and now it doesnt bother me

Hey bud,
Yeah, the worrying comes and goes... Just try to get your mind off it and overcome that fear. Because believe me, there are far worse things than balding in this world and someone with cancer would gladly be bald rather than have cancer, so try not to worry even though it is easier said than done.
Honestly, your hair looks fine! I know the middle area/crown is the one that is concerning you but I believe it's just because of the way the hair is parted plus the illusion that your red scalp is giving. When your hair is wet, it looks perfectly fine and consistently thick so don't worry about you hair!
If you are still worrying and need professional advice, seek a good dermatologist and have him clear things up with you! If there is anything else let us know!
Take care and best wishes,
Allen.

Thanks for all the replies. I was fine... and I agreed that my hair was fine and that it's just a parting/skin colour thing, and I've been fine since my last post. No worries or anything.
Then today my brilliant cousin said to me, whilst I was sitting directly under a bright light "ARE YOU GOING BALD?" and pointed to where the parting is. Great. Back to square one. I might just go the doctor about my pink scalp and try and get it sorted so these worries just dissapear, can't have this taking over my lift.

Your hair looks "thin" only because it's wet. Dry - it's normal in thickness and density. This is characteristic of blonde hair.

Hey thanks for the reply. In fact, thanks to everyone for all of your replies.
Just to let you know, I went to my doctors today about my red scalp, and she's said it's a bit 'scaly/scabby' and very irritated, so has prescribed me some scalp moisturiser thing I'm to leave on over night which should take away the redness. While she was looking at my scalp and I asked her to take a look at my hair and she said there's not thinning or anything at all with my hair and my hair is perfectly fine.
So it is the red scalp that's been the problem all along, not my hair.

Sorry, I can't edit. Anyway, since the doctor has said my hair is fine, and there's no thinning, and it's my scalp thats irritated, am guessing that's why, in certain lights, such as harsh ones directly on my head, I can see some of my scalp... because it's so red and stands out against my hair?

makes sense. i feel like my scalp is visible but am thinking (and hoping!) it's because i got a really bad haircut 2 weeks ago. it's so short and when i first saw it, was like YIKES!

Hi.
Sorry about asking again, but my hair is getting me... confused. I went the doctors about my scalp, and she said that's it's irritated and has prescribed me some ointment. I asked about hair loss and thinning and the doctor said I've got no hair loss or thinning at all, and there's no problems with my hair. So anyway, I've got the ointment on now, and my hair is all spiky and stuck up due to it. I checked in the mirror (I know my scalp is red, which might be making it look worse) but it looked weird. Here's a couple of pics. Sorry about the quality, I've only got my webcam at hand.

So I don't know why it's like that. Is it like a parting or what??? I honestly don't know.
Anyway, here's an album from earlier this week (the first two pics are the ones I've shown you, there others are freshly washed and wet hair, and the last four are of my hair shampoo'd... flattening my hair down (as my hair stands up naturally).
So.. after what the doctor told me, what is that parting thing or whatever in my hair?
Thanks.

yes the back looks inflamed, but not towards the middle-front. along with an ointment, maybe consider a systemic anti-inflammatory like aspirin. i've done that for sunburn and it does help.
