Dr.Rassman has often said that the degree of sexual side effects of his patients do reflect the official numbers. I think this is a strong evidence that the official stats are correct. My main proof for this is that Dr.Rassman frequently informs about how to purchase finasteride cheaper by cutting proscar, meaning he is not paid by the "pharmastry".

Dr.Rassman also says it's more common to get an increased sexual hunger cos of increased levels of testosterone..but I've never read/heard anyone claim this.

Comments from Mark/Dr.R ?

Is this board dying, already? :-(

If the doc himself isn't active here..the potential uniqueness is gone.

Hi Anagen,

Time around the holidays tends to be pretty slow because of all the time off, so I apologize for not getting to your question sooner.

You're correct (http://www.baldingblog.com/2008/07/03/my-increased-sex-drive-from-propecia-is-destroying-my-social-life/) in saying that Dr Rassman has stated an increased libido as being a more common effect of the drug than a decreased libido. (http://www.baldingblog.com/2008/06/20/my-libido-increased-with-propecia-does-that-mean-it-wont-work-for-my-hair-loss/)

That's just something that he's noticed speaking to his patients who are on the drug.

Quoting him from this post... (http://www.baldingblog.com/2008/04/21/increased-libido-the-unpublished-propecia-side-effect/)

I don’t know why this side effect was not reported by Merck. I suspect that they did not get it revealed in their questionnaires. Some men reported that the side effect stayed with them and others reported that they went back to their normal sex drive. Maybe there is a psychological component here. I don’t have the answer to that.

I hope that helps answer your question better.

Regarding the presence/absence of the Doctors on the forum, I assure you they take an interest in it. At the same time, they're writing the blog daily, as well as doing surgeries and patient consults all day long so it's not going to be possible for Dr's Rassman or Pak to be able to every question that's posted here. With the holiday season over, they should be a bit more active here though.

Really though we want this to be a place for people to talk amongst themselves with input from the Doctors and myself. We recognized that the blog is sort of a one-way street and we wanted to have more of a dialogue here.

It's not the first time i've seen people get pro sexual effects from propecia, if you think about it, it does make sense

I've noticed two things since I've been taking Proscar and Avodart:

1. A lot hornier
2. I can lift a lot more at the gym.

Sure..finisteride and dutasteride block dht but because of that, you got a lot of extra testosterone floating around in your system, around 10% or more depending on your dose.

There ya have it!
