Regarding pulling of hair. Not so hard obviously, but like in the case where someone's combing his long curly hair with a narrow comb.

Does this force cause some level of follicle miniaturizing i.e. alopecia, or is it supposed to do the opposite, "stimulate" the follicle and make it grow thicker hair? I've been hearing both answers over the years.

I'm asking since I like to comb my temples a lot, but since my temples are longer than most of my other hair (to make it not look like I receded) it is thus curlier since the longer my hair is, the curlier it gets, and this is when it's hard to comb it.

If it is causing the temples to get thinner, then I make think twice about doing it, though if it's supposed to do the opposite, all the better.

No. the only kind of traction alopecia you'll see is from extreme cases. People who have dreadlocks. People who tug on their hair all day long (like you see in long time meth addicts), and black girls who pull their hair back SUPER tight all the time.

Combing your hair isn't going to do anything significant.

So any kind of pulling force at all doesn't help stimulate (do the opposite of miniaturization) I take it.

I know it's severe cases only that matter, but I tend to worry about even very small details, even in all aspect of my life. I'm detail-oriented.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but I don't think you're detail orientated, I think you're a bit obsessive. Nothing bad or anything, but just be aware of it. I know a lot of guys who drive themselves nuts thinking about this kind of stuff all the time to the point where it interferes with their lives.
