I know nothing can be certain without a miniaturization study, but I would like to hear others' thoughts on my hairline. In short, the picture titled August 2006 was taken after I had just turned 18. I am now 22. Note the position of the mole on my forehead in each of the photos. I have a thin hairline, noticeable to me in about the first 1/4 or 1/2 of the frontal hairline. The rest of my hair seems fine, and I have always had a bigass head. I had short hair from age 18-21, and to me didn't even notice ANY recession whatsoever. Only when I go back and look at pictures of myself have I noticed these changes. Now that my hair is longer, I've noticed the frontal edge is very thin and stands on its own when I pull it back. I have been intensely monitoring my hairline for the past 8 months and nothing significant has happened yet, although I do believe I may have recessed just a tad since, if any. Hard to tell.
I measured the distance from the frontalis muscle to the corners, and they are about 1.25 inches - 1.5 inches, depending on how far I pull my hair back, and the angle of the ruler. The front is harder to measure because the tip is much thinner. The very first hair is short and thin, and it is only about .25 inches from the top of the frontalis. When I measure straight up to what I think is the "bulk" of my hair (the area that isn't as thin) it's about .6-.75 inch.
My mom is a hairdresser, and has cut my hair my whole life. She would always tell me I would never go bald, because my hair was so thick, and neither her father or my dad went bald. Not expecting to go bald until recently, I've been very worried about my hairline.
My dad has since passed, at the age of 50, and he was nothing more than an early norwood 3. This is why I never felt the need to really worry about losing my hair. My immediate family doesn't have a significant problem with hair loss.
I would just like to hear any thoughts or opinions on my hairline. If it's bad news, I'd like to know, and if it's good news, I'd definitely like to know. The uncertainty is what is killing me.
Thanks in advance.
