Hi,

I am a 22yr old. I am suffering from hair loss (crown and temples) - MPB.

I was recommended Finpecia and Minidoxil 5%.

I wanted to inquire over the following.

1. Is it necessary to take Minidoxil also or Finpecia is enough ?
2. How many years would I need to use Finpecia. Basically when can I stop it?
3. I realized over the net that many people suffer from severe problems because of the use of these medication (Right from male breast enlargement to low libido). Do I have an advantage with age being on my side ? Or I have an equal chance at being a victim ?
4. How much percentage of the people end up becoming Impotent ? Again does age help in my case.
5. Are there any specific long term side effects of these medications?

What are the odds of saving existing hair/regrowing new hair through medication without any side effects ? An honest probability is appreciated.

Kindly pardon me if I have been ignorant at any point. Wanted to have a detailed Idea before I could begin the treatment.

Thanks for all the help in advance :).

Regards,
HC

Also I read about Dutasteride today.

Is it more powerful than finasteride ?
Are side effects more severe than finasteride ?
Does it have any short term/long term effects on fertility ? (if yes then are reduced libido/impotency chances more severe than compared to finasteride )?

I am sorry if I have too many questions. But once cleared with these I would be rest assured more confident in going ahead with the treatment prescribed to me.

Thanks for the help in advance :)

Some of your questions can be answered in the FAQ, but regarding dutasteride, it's a lot more powerful and it has a lot longer of a half life. Meaning that with finasteride, if you're experiencing side effects you can just stop taking it and the side effects should go away within a day. With dutasteride it's much longer.

Also, if you're experiencing side effects from finasteride, you'll most likely experience them from dutasteride.
