Ok I posted this as a reply to a thread but wanted to also start it as a new topic.
I do not understand the Dr.'s statement that one will always go bald even with treatment and if you are destined to go bald there is no stopping it...from what I understand each hair on our body has a limited number of cycles before cell death....when miniaturization or balding becomes present the problem is DHT has sped up many of these cycles so there may only be a few left...if one gets on a DHT blocker it could start back the normal process but then in 5-10 years the cell death will still occur as opposed to a very old age when the cycle would cease.
The reason why I do not believe that there is no stopping balding is because the case of type II dht deficient males. ...These individuals do not experience hair loss, this is one reason why scientist have determined that type I dht is probably not involved...There is also different levels of androgen sensitivity between humans...This is why finasteride might not work for as many years on some people because they are very sensitive to androgen's effects and even hypothetically 8% of type II dht could take its toll on the follicle.
The reason why I think someone could delay the onset of MPB to very late in life, say 55-75 is if an individual began blocking dht when the balding process was very early and only a few cycles had been depleted from the cell life and if the individual also had a high CAG repeat ie.(not very sensitive to androgenic affects)
I believe in cases such as described above the balding process can be stopped. After much research I believe this to be the case, now the problem with this method is that one would also have to begin a medication before any balding was noticeable to catch it this early, which I completely understand why this is not recommended by physicians and one would also need to be one of a small group of people that are not very sensitive the the affect of androgen's.
Thoughts or comments?
