what do you guys think? is this a mature hairline or the beginning of something more worrisome? it's definitely been going back at the temples over the past 2 years, but i don't know i should expect it to stop or not. went on propecia for 2 weeks--minimal sides but went off it even with minimal sides... thinking i'll give it another go if everyone thinks this is the beginning of a receding hairline.

p.s. family history: dad, two granfathers, two maternal uncles; only one uncle has hair loss but he said it began in his early 30's and i'm only 23...

Hi,

I just noticed that you have a similar hairline to mine. Mine is receding on the sides like yours, and I've been experienced thinning all around the top. I'm 24 years old.

For you, I can't predict if it's "just the beginning" or if it's "completely matured"... but you can learn how to "MAP OUT YOUR OWN SCALP FOR MINIATURIZATION" by seeing this article. http://www.baldingblog.com/2008/11/14/mapping-your-own-scalp-for-miniaturization-part-1/

ALSO, I would go on Propecia right away if I were you, and stick with it for at least 8 months to a year to see results. Costco sells a 3 months supply for about $180, but you need a prescription. According to my research, side effects are really nothing to worry about and Propecia is Very effective in keeping what you have or significantly slowing down the hairloss process. If Propecia works, I wouldn't go off of it because you could lose everything you managed to save.

Hope this helps!

Hi Joebronson and welcome

Judging from the photos alone, these might be the first signs of the balding process. However photos can sometimes give a wrong impression. As researchingHt said: The miniaturization test is certainly one of the best approaches for making a proper diagnosis.

Once you have been diagnosed with MPB (Male pattern baldness) the treatment option of Propecia is the best shot you will have.

It looks okay to me.......... do you have a digital camera? with resolution of at least a few megapixels? and do you have the "flower" mode? if yes take better photos of the hair using flower mode and upload it, we will be able to see your hairs much better and tell you what we think.

It's very possible that you're just getting a mature hairline. I have a similar hairline where it recedes up in the corners like that. The advice given above by Lain and researchingHT is good too.
