I keep reading on the net about guys who take Propecia & when it loses its value after a number of years their hair starts thinning fast! Why is that so? I always thought that even when the drug loses effect your hairloss would still be much slower!?

Basically because the Finasteride is preventing DHT from attacking the follicles. When you stop taking finasteride, all the hair that was being protected by the finasteride suddenly start being attacked, and voila. Baldness.

You must have misunderstood me. I meant to say there is men reporting their MPB picks again despite staying on Propecia and the process becomes fast and aggressive. I know Propecia can't retain your hair forever but even if MPB continues again, should it still be slower then not being on Propecia at all?
I know a guy he has been on Propecia for 8 years and once Propecia lost effectiveness his hair started going really fast, he still is on Propecia but his hair went from like a NW2 to a NW4 in like 2yrs!

Ah, I misread what you wrote. Thanks for the clarification.
Typically if finasteride stops keeping the same level of effectiveness, it doesn't really happen that drastically. 2 years is actually quite a long time, and plenty of time for someone who is under the supervision of a doctor to be able to adjust their medication regimen.
Did your friend see his doctor in that 2 year span?

He did the only thing the doctor told him what he could do is to switch to Avodart but that has more side effects so he was afraid to take it. He could've also added Rogaine but it wouldn't do too much so he didn't use it. But to go from a NW2 to a NW4 in 2 years is very fast!

And to add to this I always thought even if you start to lose hair again on Propecia the progression would still be a lot slower but I guess not.
