Hi, I'm a 22 year old male and I've been extremely gradually losing my hair since I've been about 11 or 12. I used to have extremely thick fast growing black hair when I was 10 and younger. It's been around 11 years and my hair still hasn't completely fallen out. The hair also never balded it just became short and vellus (like a full head of transparent hair). My hair loss is also even and unpatterned (the hair on the top of my head is the same density as the sides and back). There is also no family history of balding on either side of my family going back 3 generations.
Since my hair loss started when I was so young I kind of got used to it and accepted going bald. However, last year I went to a dermatologist to see why I was able to scrape this odd white film off of my scalp every single day, twice daily. She said that I had form of seborrheic dermatitis. She gave me this foam product called Extina (active ingredient is Ketoconazole). After a few months of use the film went away and my I started to get little sprouts of black (my natural color) hairs coming up around my head.
After a little time had passed I decided to go to a hair transplant specialist for a consultation. He told me that it looked like I had a form of Female Patterned Baldness (kind of confused me since I'm a male). He said that he wasn't sure why my head is the way that it is and the only thing to do is to try and treat it and see what happens. He also said that he could not do a transplant because I do not have a viable donor site on my scalp.
So, currently my regime is propecia, rogaine 2x daily (morning and night), revivogen (4 hours after rogaine in the afternoon, all natural and shouldn't hurt), I apply some retin-a (.04%) to my scalp 2x a week with rogaine, I shower with a copper peptide shampoo 2x daily, I shampoo with Nizoral 3x a week, I go for Luce (LLT) treatments 2x a week, I take Biotin (vitamin), MSM (vitamin), and a regular multivitamin. I am also very active, running a few miles everyday and lifting weights.
I have been doing this for about 2 months. This may sound strange but my temples that were completely vellus are now up to 50% density of black hair (even with the rest of my head) and I am starting to see individual strands of black hair on my head having other hair grow along with them (1-3 hairs growing together). There isn't an insane amount of regrowth but its definitely there.
I went to a few dermatologists and a hair transplant specialist and none of them could explain why my hair miniaturized at such a young age and hasn't progressed completely yet (after 11 years). I have every intention with sticking with my current regime, but I was curious if anyone has ever seen or heard of a case like this before. I'm not too sure what is going on with me.
Thanks.

It sounds like you may have something called "DUPA" Diffuse Unpatterned Alopecia (http://www.baldingblog.com/2006/05/19/how-fast-can-dupa-take-effect/). Check out that link and see if that might describe what's going on with you.

I have seen many people including me loosing hair at that age. It is due to gel, waxes type of things which we use on our hair. I have went to the doctor twice. The doctors have always adviced not to use these kind of things which contains chemical as they are the main cause due to which hair is damaged. They have adviced to use herbal hair shampoo which is good for your hair. I have used a herbal hair shampoo and it has worked out really well for me and has also increased the shine of my hair.

Yea, that's pretty much what I have. What I was more curious about is how or why my hair is growing back after about a month. I mean I know that I am kind of throwing the kitchen sink at the problem. I have tons of vellus hair (like a full head of it). From what I've read about hair loss it seems really odd but I am happy it's happening.
