My son is 13 and is experiencing hair loss that has been diagnosed as early male pattern baldness by two dermatologists.
The last doctor prescribed Propecia but I am concerned he is to young to use it.
Anyone know if this is safe for a 13 year old?

NO Propecia is not safe to use for kids as its for men only who are 20+ because there can be many side effects if being used by kids. There can be swelling of lips, face, etc so its advised not to be used by kids.

Hi Sonorlite,
Sorry it took so long to get back to you, but I wanted to speak with the doctor first before I replied.
We've never prescribed Propecia to anyone that young before and the doctor is not 100% sure if it's safe to use in a child that young, due to the fact that it alters hormones that are necessary for proper growth.
He said that you should take the advice of the doctors who are actually seeing your son, but that you should also get a hairDX test to see if he's genetically predisposed to MPB, and also to do miniaturization tests on him to check for miniaturized hairs.
