Hi. I've been taking (only) Propecia on and off for about a year now. By on and off, I mean I take it for a week or so, but then seem to get a bad outbreak of my rosacea, then stop for a few days, and then resume. My hair still seems to be slowly thinning, so I'm also not sure if the Propecia is actually working for me.

When I get my outbreak, my skin gets very oily, my eyes turn red and swell, and my scalp itches a lot. Again, I don't know if this is exactly cause and effect, but it seems to follow this pattern.

The question is, since my scalp itches while on the propecia (just before I stop taking it), is that a sign that my rosacea (possibly in the form of seb. derm.) is dominating my hair loss? I think that the itching indicates my immune system is on the attack. Would I be better off just treating my rosacea (such as with Oracea) to reduce the inflamation? The Oracea does a lot for me, but its side effect is that I turn pink from just a little sunlight exposure.

I'm 45, blue eyes, and fair skin, and just started to notice hair thinning a year ago.

Great website. Thanks in advance.
