Hi guys!

I wanted to be vigilant with my potential hairloss, since it clearly is better to notice (and hence do something) earlier.
The mapping for miniaturization seems like the best (and the most scientific and conclusive idea).

I recently preformed one on myself, but have trouble interpreting the results, since I am aware that hair thicknesses vary very slightly at the beginning of hairloss. (the cases posted on the forum, while helpful, are abit later on in the balding process)
There also seems to be some "discoloration" in hairs of the same thickness? Then again that could be thinning.

I would appreciate if you could help me interpret my results as well as give me tips on how to keep a steady log of things and try to notice and changes.

Hi Random,

Basically the best way to keep track of these things is to remember to take measurements from the same locations every time, and do it on a regular schedule.

I don't really see too much discoloration in your hair. You see how those black hairs are nice and big? See the ones that are smaller in thickness? Those are either vellus hairs or miniaturized hairs. If you see more than 20% of the hairs being miniaturized, there's a good chance you're balding.

It's a tedious process, but typically we just count the hairs that we see there and approximate the percentage of miniaturized ones.
