So for the longest time I've been trying to figure out if I am experiencing hair loss. When I was in 9th grade I had no widow's peaks to speak of. Now I do.

I noticed when I was in 10th grade the area of my widow's peaks, I would gently stroke the hair and 4 or 5 would come out a few times in an hour that had little white caps on the bottom of them. I can do this still today, I always get the hairs with the white caps on the bottom but then they stop after a little while but I never notice hair on my pillow or in the shower drain or anything.

Last year I noticed some scalp showing on my "bald spot area" This would be the first picture with the green shirt titled bald spot.

The next three pictures are taken today, I see scalp! And the last picture was taken sometime in 2008 when I had a buzz cut, it shows how deep my widows peak is. If I am going bald I suppose I will accept it, but I want some closure.

Am I starting the process? and how long would it maybe take until Norwood 6 apporaches? My mom always told me her father died bald, and well her brothers went bald, my dad is 50 and has a little hair left on his head, kind of tufty.

I'm 22 by the way Thanks!82

With people your age it's always more difficult to tell, primarily because your hairline is moving from a "juvenile" hairline to a "mature" hairline. You can read more about the difference between the two here. (http://www.baldingblog.com/2006/10/06/juvenile-vs-mature-hairline-am-i-going-bald-with-photos/)

I hope that gives you some information that helps.

But does the scalp get thinner in a mature hairline? My mother even commented today and noticed the thining, she said I used to have such thick hair and she never knew where it came from.

That's a good question, I've had the same problem. Ten years, back in highschool, ago I would use loads of gel in my hair when I styled it, although ever year since then I've been using less hair product because way too much of my scalp would show through. Could it be because that I cut my hair shorter now, or perhaps I'm more conscious of hair loss as I'm getting older, or perhaps my hair really is thinning, or maybe a combination of all three, who knows. About all you can do is get on Finasteride and if hair loss really concerns you, Minoxidil - then relax knowing anything that can be done, you're doing.

I can see that in the middle of your head, there is a start of hair loss. Before it gets too late consult a doctor and take some precautions or use some herbal product like Zulvera Shampoo.
