Hi,
I am a 28 year old male and have been taking propecia for the past 5 years and in the past 2 months I moved over to 0.5mg Dutaisteride a day. I have been doing fine. I also wash my hair twice a day with Nioxin (once in the morning before I go to work and after dinner at night). Recently I have been also using Nirozal shampoo twice a week.

My question is:

Is it ok to wash my hair twice a day or does it damage my hair in any way or increase hair loss? On a seperate note my scalp is quite oily.
Which is the best and most effective male hair loss shampoo?

Hi Timbut,

We haven't really seen any results to speak of from Nizoral or Nioxin. If you search the blog for those words you'll find many posts about them.

As far as shampooing, as long as you're gentle when you do it you shouldn't have any problems. If you're very rough on the hair, that can be problematic.

We don't have much experience with those products. They're not FDA approved to treat hair-loss, and we haven't seen any evidence (anecdotal evidence aside) that they really work at all.

They probably won't harm you though, so if you wanna try them out then you can certainly do that. But for men that have hair loss we usually recommend finasteride, minoxidil, and/or Hair Transplant surgery.
